Nicholas Orem Middle School

Mr. J. Leonard is in his 3rd year as the 7th and 8th grade science special education teacher and department chair for science at Nicholas Orem Middle School in Prince George’s County, Maryland. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is a member of the Next Generation Science Standards Transition Team, Middle School Science Curriculum Development Team, and an Apple Foundations Trainer, all for Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). Also, he is the PGCPS regional program coordinator for the Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA) Program, administered by The John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. Mr. Leonard is a 2007 graduate of The College of Southern Maryland; a 2011 graduate of Towson University; and a 2014 graduate of the University of Maryland, College. Mr. Leonard currently holds MSDE Certification in middle school science (grades 4-9), biology (grades 7-12) and special education (grades 6 to adult).
